A Special Me — An Interview with Sue Gelderman, Author & Illustrator
Saturday Jan 10, 2026
Saturday Jan 10, 2026
Welcome to the Plymouth Place Podcast, where we celebrate stories that inspire us to live meaningful, connected lives. Today’s conversation beautifully reflects Plymouth Place’s vision of exemplary living for generations—a vision rooted in faith, purpose, and living life to the full at every age.
In this episode, Chaplain Christina Vosteen sits down with Plymouth Place resident, author, and illustrator Sue Gelderman to talk about her new children’s book, A Special Me. Written in gentle rhyme, the book invites readers to look beyond outward appearances—beyond eye color, height, or physical differences—and discover something far more meaningful.
Sue shares how her faith shapes the message of the book: that God creates each of us uniquely, and that what makes us truly special isn’t how we look on the outside, but what we carry in our hearts. Through kindness, love, and compassion, A Special Me reminds children—and adults—that these are the qualities that allow us to live fully and authentically.
In the same spirit in which A Special Me was written, all proceeds from the book will support the Plymouth Place Scholarship Fund, helping to advance the careers of our frontline staff.

" Voices from the Cottages"
Sunday Nov 09, 2025
Sunday Nov 09, 2025
Join your host, Paddy Homan, Vice President of Philanthropy & Community Affairs for another episode of the Plymouth Place Podcast— where we share the stories, voices, and traditions that make our community so special.
Today, we’re stepping back in time — and into our past traditions at Plymouth Place — to visit with three of our longtime Cottagers, Marjorie Kemper, Sally Kruse and Estelle Capps. These are neighbors who lived and thrived in the cottages of Plymouth Place for many years, carrying forward its spirit of friendship, faith, and resilience into The Landings where they now reside.
Together, we’ll reflect on the unique charm of cottage life, the memories made within those walls, and what community has meant to them through the decades. Their stories remind us that Plymouth Place isn’t just a place to live — it’s a place where lives are woven together in meaningful ways.
So sit back, listen in, and enjoy this special conversation with our beloved cottagers.
